About the Peace Silver Dollar

The Peace Dollar was introduced in 1921 following a public design competition to commemorate peace after World War I. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the series had one of the shortest minting runs of any major U.S. coin, with production ending in 1935. It was also the last circulating silver dollar struck by the United States.
