About Xenia Coin

Since 1979, Xenia Coin Shop has been Southwest Ohio's trusted destination for buying and selling coins, bullion, jewelry, and estate collections.

We built this business on relationships with families settling estates, collectors protecting lifetime work, and people who simply needed a fair offer and honest guidance.

Our Story

In 1978, Ron Newcomer and Bill Wynn opened Xenia Coin Shop on West Second Street. What started in a building that had been an arcade and pizza parlor became something more enduring: a place where generations of collectors, families, and community members would turn for honest dealing and expert guidance.

In 2018, Ryan Davis took ownership, committed to preserving what made Xenia Coin special: same location, same values, same dedication to treating people fairly.

The People Behind the Counter

Ryan Davis earned his finance degree from the University of Cincinnati, but it was a childhood fascination with coins that shaped his career path. A professional numismatist since 2011 and Vice President of the American Numismatic Association, Ryan brings both market expertise and genuine passion for helping people understand the value and story behind their collections.

He represents a new generation of leadership built on the same foundation of integrity that's defined this shop for four decades.

Why We're Still Here

Forty years ago, this business opened because someone loved coins. But over time, we learned this work isn't really about coins. It's about the people behind them.

☑ The widow sorting through her husband's lifetime collection, unsure where to start.

☑ The collector protecting decades of careful acquisition.

☑ The attorney settling an estate fairly and efficiently.

☑ The family facing unexpected expenses and needing to liquidate assets quickly and confidently.

That's why we're here. To provide clarity, fairness, and expertise when people need it most.

Our Approach

We treat every collection (whether it's worth $500 or $1M) with the same respect and thoroughness. We don't rush you or pressure you into decisions. We explain what you have, why it's valuable, and what your options are.

Our offers are based on real market data: live auction results, current spot prices, and actual collector demand. Not outdated price guides. Not lowball tactics. Just transparent, defensible pricing backed by decades of expertise.

What Sets Us Apart

True Continuity

We've watched generations grow up, inherit collections, and return when it was time to sell. We're not just another cash-for-gold seller; we're part of the Xenia community, and our commitment to excellence is evident through our frequent referrals and regional reputation.

Tumultuous Times

During the 2020 shutdown, we stayed open as an essential financial service, helping people convert precious metals to cash when they needed it most. Today, we're one of the few remaining coin shops in the greater Dayton area. Through the good times and bad, we'll be here.

Professional Credentials

As one of only a handful of ANA-affiliated shops in Ohio, we're part of a national nonprofit dedicated to education and ethical standards in numismatics. That membership reflects our commitment to ongoing nusimatic education and continued professional excellence.

Community Connection

We sponsor the Legacy Knights Coin Club, teaching the next generation about collecting, the value of coins, and the history embedded in American coinage. We've been good stewards of this community for 40+ years, and we plan to be here in Xenia for many decades to come.

Our Commitment

We're here for the long term. That means doing business the right way. That means treating people fairly, paying competitive prices, and building trust that lasts across generations.

If you're looking to sell, we'll give you an honest evaluation and a fair offer. If you're buying, we'll help you find quality pieces that fit your goals. And if you're settling an estate, we'll walk you through the process with patience and professionalism.

Some customers tell us they remember visiting this shop in the 1980s. That's a legacy we're proud to continue: one relationship, one honest transaction, and  satisfied customer at a time.

That's who we are. And that's who we'll always be.
