1892 Morgan Silver Dollar – NGC AU55

Add a scarce and desirable Philadelphia Mint Morgan Dollar to your collection with this 1892 Morgan Silver Dollar, certified NGC AU55. With a mintage of only 1,036,000 coins, the 1892 Philadelphia issue is one of the lower-mintage Morgan Dollars and is considered a semi-key date in the series.

Graded About Uncirculated 55 (AU55) by NGC, this coin displays only light circulation wear while retaining strong overall detail and much of its original Mint State character. AU55 is a desirable grade for collectors seeking an attractive example with excellent detail without the premium associated with higher Mint State grades.

The 1892 Morgan Dollar is particularly interesting because hundreds of thousands of examples are believed to have been melted over the years, primarily under the 1915 Pittman Act. Surviving examples can vary considerably in strike and luster, making attractive, well-preserved specimens especially appealing.

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this Morgan Dollar carries no mintmark. The obverse features Liberty wearing her iconic Phrygian cap, while the reverse showcases the majestic eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch. Both sides were designed by George T. Morgan.

Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the Morgan Dollar weighs 26.73 grams and contains approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver.

This 1892 NGC AU55 combines a low mintage, significant survival history, classic Morgan Dollar design, and attractive About Uncirculated preservation. It would make an excellent addition to a Morgan Dollar date set, type collection, or classic U.S. silver collection.
