Graded Mint State 65 (MS65) by PCGS, this coin is fully uncirculated and offers excellent overall preservation, attractive mint luster, and strong eye appeal. The 1897-S is known for generally sharp strikes and attractive luster, making Gem Mint State examples particularly appealing to collectors.

The 1897-S is an interesting issue with a long history of being preserved in Mint State. Large quantities were released from San Francisco Mint holdings during the 20th century, helping preserve a significant number of high-grade examples. Even so, PCGS estimates only about 4,900 surviving examples in MS65 or better, giving Gem specimens added collector appeal.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Liberty wearing her iconic Phrygian cap, while the reverse showcases a majestic eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch. The distinctive “S” mintmark beneath the wreath identifies this coin as a product of the San Francisco Mint.

Struck in 90% silver, the Morgan Dollar contains approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver. Combining the classic Morgan Dollar design, desirable San Francisco mintmark, and premium PCGS MS65 grade, this coin is an excellent addition to any Morgan Dollar collection.
