1899 Morgan Silver Dollar – PCGS MS65

Add a Gem Mint State example of one of the most desirable low-mintage Philadelphia Morgan Dollars to your collection with this 1899 Morgan Silver Dollar, certified PCGS MS65. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1899 Morgan Dollar had a remarkably low mintage of just 330,000 coins, making it one of the lowest-mintage issues of the entire Morgan Dollar series.

Graded Mint State 65 (MS65) by PCGS, this coin is fully uncirculated and offers excellent overall preservation, attractive mint luster, and strong eye appeal. MS65 is considered a Gem Mint State grade, with only minor contact marks or abrasions expected for the grade.

The low mintage makes the 1899 especially interesting to collectors. Although a significant number of Mint State examples surfaced from Treasury and other holdings during the mid-20th century, PCGS estimates only approximately 2,500–5,000 examples survive in MS65 or finer grades.

Striking quality and luster can vary among surviving 1899 Morgan Dollars, making attractive Gem examples particularly appealing. This issue is also scarce in circulated grades, adding to its overall historical and numismatic significance.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Liberty wearing her iconic Phrygian cap, while the reverse showcases a majestic eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch. As a Philadelphia Mint issue, this coin carries no mintmark.

Struck in 90% silver, the Morgan Dollar contains approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver. Combining an exceptionally low mintage, classic Morgan Dollar design, and desirable PCGS MS65 certification, this coin would make an excellent addition to any serious Morgan Dollar collection.
