The 1921 Morgan Dollars were produced after a 17-year hiatus in the series. Because the original Morgan Dollar hubs had been destroyed, new master dies were created for the 1921 issues, resulting in a distinctive shallow-relief design compared with earlier Morgan Dollars.

The 1921-D is an important issue for Morgan Dollar collectors, particularly for those assembling a complete date-and-mintmark set. While the issue is readily available in lower Mint State grades, truly premium Gem examples become considerably more difficult to locate.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features the iconic portrait of Liberty wearing her Phrygian cap, while the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching arrows and an olive branch. Struck in 90% silver, the Morgan Dollar contains approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver.

This 1921-D NGC MS63 combines the historical importance of the final Morgan Dollar year with the distinction of being the only Denver Mint Morgan Dollar. It is an excellent addition to a Morgan Dollar date-and-mintmark set or collection of classic American silver coinage.
