1921-S Morgan Silver Dollar – PCGS MS64

Add a high-quality Choice Mint State example of the final-year Morgan Dollar to your collection with this 1921-S Morgan Silver Dollar, certified PCGS MS64. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the 1921-S had a mintage of 21,695,000 coins and is an important issue for collectors completing a Morgan Dollar date-and-mintmark set.

Graded Mint State 64 (MS64) by PCGS, this coin is fully uncirculated and offers attractive Mint State luster, strong overall detail, and excellent collector appeal. MS64 represents a Choice Mint State grade, with minor contact marks or abrasions consistent with the grade.

The 1921-S is particularly interesting because Morgan Dollar production resumed in 1921 after a 17-year hiatus. The Mint had to create new dies using redesigned, shallow-relief hubs, resulting in a distinctive appearance compared with earlier Morgan Dollars.

San Francisco Morgan Dollars have long been popular for their generally attractive luster, and the 1921-S is no exception. However, many examples are known for weak or soft strikes, particularly in the central areas. Well-preserved Mint State examples remain highly desirable, especially for collectors seeking a premium example of this final-year issue.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Liberty wearing her iconic Phrygian cap, while the reverse displays the familiar eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch. The “S” mintmark identifies this coin as a San Francisco Mint issue.

Struck in 90% silver, the Morgan Dollar weighs 26.73 grams and contains approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver.

Combining final-year Morgan Dollar status, San Francisco Mint provenance, 90% silver content, and a desirable PCGS MS64 grade, this coin is an excellent addition to a Morgan Dollar collection, date-and-mintmark set, or classic U.S. silver collection.
